2016 HOF Inductee
Lawrence Goldman '84

Lawrence Goldman, an expert in international development, has made significant strides in improving education for underserved communities in Asia, Africa, and Central America. As Regional Education Director for Asia and the Pacific at FHI 360, he is dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities. Goldman’s passion for development began during an internship at the UN, where he witnessed Muhammad Yunus advocate for microfinance. This experience inspired Goldman to shift from diplomacy to international development. After earning his MA from The College of William and Mary, Goldman worked with organizations like World Learning and Creative Associates International. He focused on rebuilding education systems in post-conflict areas like Afghanistan and Myanmar. Goldman continues to advocate for global education, leveraging his expertise to support and develop education programs worldwide.

Nick LaBrocca '03

Nick LaBrocca, a standout soccer player, made a mark at Rutgers University, where he played every game from 2003 to 2006, earning All-Big East honors and leading the team to NCAA tournaments. Drafted 35th overall by the Colorado Rapids in 2007, LaBrocca contributed significantly to the team’s reserve division championship. He moved to Toronto FC in 2010, helping them win the Amway Canadian Championship and earning the “Community Player Award.” LaBrocca’s breakout year came in 2011 with Chivas USA, where he scored the 10,000th goal in MLS history and was named to the MLS All-Star team. Returning to Colorado in 2013, he played a key role in the team’s success. By 2016, LaBrocca had played over 250 MLS games. He now lives in Chicago with his wife Marissa and their three rescue dogs, eagerly awaiting their first child.

Sean Duffy '70

Sean Duffy resides in Neffs, PA, where he balances a fulfilling career with community service. A financial advisor with Stifel Nicolaus, he began his career in 1983 as a stockbroker and has since contributed to various local organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce and Adult Literacy Council. Duffy has also served on the boards of community groups and was a long-time radio host for “The Money Show with Sean Duffy.” His dedication to Christian Brothers Academy, where he served as a trustee from 2002 to 2016, is a significant part of his legacy. Duffy’s community involvement extends to teaching Spanish at DeSales University and participating in local golf tournaments. He values his role in supporting CBA and continues to appreciate the LaSallian tradition’s impact on his life and career.

Timothy John Sewnig

Timothy John Sewnig, born and raised in South Chicago, attended Villanova University before joining the Peace Corps in 1981, where he taught English in Morocco for three years. His experience in Morocco, filled with creative teaching methods, solidified his passion for education. After returning, Sewnig worked in Peace Corps recruitment and later taught Religious Studies at Notre Dame High School in Trenton, NJ. In 1986, he joined Christian Brothers Academy, where he has taught various subjects, moderated clubs, and coached cross country, basketball, and varsity golf. His work in Campus Ministry and service trips to places like Nicaragua and Camden have been highlights of his career. Sewnig remains dedicated to education and service, looking forward to many more years of impacting students’ lives. His diverse roles at CBA reflect his commitment to both teaching and community service.

'68 Wrestling Team

The 1968 Wrestling Team was the first in CBA history to win the District Championship, the highest state award for a team at that time. Led by Hall of Fame coach, Tony Chesney, the team finished the season 12-1, winning their last 9 matches in a row.

2016 HOF Inductee
'73 Basketball Team

The 1972-73 Basketball Team finished the season with a record of 28-0. They were Parochial “A” State champions for the third year in a row. Led by Hall of Fame coach Vinnie Cox, the team featured an offense that led the Shore with an average of 86 points per game and a stifling defense that gave up an average of 50 points per game.
