Turning Stock into Opportunity: Tom Streep '82

Tom Streep ’82 describes his life as “a journey up and down the East Coast.” He began his career in healthcare, ultimately serving as Vice President of Bayshore Hospital, before relocating his family to New England in 2000 and transitioning into the financial services industry with Edward Jones Investments. Now retired as a Limited Partner, Tom is preparing for his next chapter with a move to the Hilton Head area. “I’m blessed to have two children, Bianca and Michaela,” he shared, “and this past June we welcomed our first grandchild, Caleb Thomas.”

Tom’s approach to philanthropy is thoughtful and intentional. “Giving appreciated stock allows me to give back to CBA while also benefiting from the tax advantages,” he explained. Donating securities enables him to “keep cash on hand without realizing large capital gains,” ultimately allowing him to increase the impact of his support.

His most recent gift supports the Class of 1982 Scholarship Endowment, a cause that reflects his pride in his classmates. “We have an awesome class of men, and I want to honor that legacy,” Tom said. Each year, the Class of ’82 gathers in New York City during Thanksgiving week to reconnect and reflect. “It was at this year’s dinner that I became aware of the endowment,” he noted. “I was all in.”

When reflecting on his CBA years, Tom points to soccer as a defining experience. Winning the NJSIAA Parochial A South State Championship during his sophomore year remains a highlight, but even more meaningful were the lessons learned. “Playing for Dan Keene taught me teamwork and competition,” Tom said. “His fatherly influence guides me to this day.”
