The 9/11 Studies Program

In the Fall of 2026, CBA will proudly inaugurate the Center for 9/11 Studies at Christian Brothers Academy, which is intended to serve as a living testament to the sacred importance of this day through education, testimony, and remembrance.

One aspect of this new program will be a new senior elective course tentatively titled “9/11 and American Culture.” This elective seeks to give students a fuller context of events before, during, and following September 11 with particular emphasis on how the events of this day have influenced our nation’s history, culture, and values. By developing a better understanding of the day and its impacts, our students will be encouraged to discover a richer understanding of themselves as Americans, citizens, and individuals. These studies will also seek to tell and honor the stories of courage and sacrifice that led our nation through this terrible day – not only the valorous acts of members of the military, national security, and police and fire first responders, but also those of the multitude of average Americans who were able to make a difference for good in their own ways. Further details about this course will be shared with students during 2026/27 course selection in the second semester of this school year.

The Center will also create and maintain a research library of publications and documentaries of history, research, and commentary; this library will serve as a resource for our students and for other interested members of the CBA community including alumni and their families.

Finally, the Center will preserve and honor the uniquely meaningful experiences of the day by recording and curating personal testimonies from members of the CBA community. These reflections will preserve the deeply personal experiences of that day, giving voice to the stories within our extended CBA family and honoring the lives of those we lost. In doing so, the archive will create a meaningful way for current and future generations to learn from and share in these powerful accounts of courage, faith, and resilience. Over time, the Center also aims to create a memorial space where artifacts, mementos, and other items of remembrance can be displayed for students, alumni, and visitors. This will serve as both an educational resource and a place of reflection—a reminder of the resilience, sacrifice, and faith that define this chapter of our nation’s story.

If you are interested in being a part of this project of remembrance by sharing a story, lending a memento, guest lecturing in a class, etc., please share your interest and ideas to CBA9-11@cbalincroftnj.org. CBA also welcomes your input and suggestions for additional ways that we can make this project worthy of the full legacy of September 11.

Ways for CBA alums to get involved with the Center for 9/11 Studies:

• Volunteer as a guest speaker for a class or a public forum
• Recommend or donate a resource for the 9/11 research library
• Lend a personal memento or artifact associated with 9/11 and its aftermath for public display
• Share your personal story as part of our recorded archive of reflections from the CBA community
